Nexus 7 owners & users beware!
I had the misfortune to check out what “TalkBack” does.
You will find it under Settings, Accessories, ‘TalkBack.’
Never ever turn it on, or you will be sorry!
After I turned it on the tablet spoke everything written and
when I tapped an icon it became encircled with a golden square, but nothing
else happened. I had to fairly quickly tap inside the square twice before the
app would open, if it opened! The responses were snail like and when I tried to
get into settings, it was quite difficult. When I finally managed it there was
no sign of “Accessories.” I tried for hours to find a way to get to it so I
could turn off “TalkBack!” all my efforts failed.
Finally out of desperation thinking I was going to return
this Nexus 7 to the store where I purchased it for a solution and/or
replacement, I figured I had nothing to lose by opting to resetting the system
by using the “Backup & Reset” to “Factory data reset.”
I applied the “Factory data reset” and the beast of “TalkBack!”
was once again shut off, never to ever be turned on again!!!!
The positive side of this story is that after the system was
fully restored and I connected to WiFi most if not all of the apps I had
installed were automatically replaced and available for my use without having
to search them out and install again.
The only other gripe I have at this moment is there seems to
be no interface like “ITunes” to help in controlling apps and data, movies,
music and pictures. I am hoping that may change, but if you learn of something
like that which applies to the Nexus 7, please let me know.
Thank you.
